Description
Cocoa powder adds a little color to this dry shampoo; that way, your hair—no matter the shade—doesn't look all dull and powdery. The arrowroot starch and clay absorb excess oil, giving your hair more time to shine without going flat. We top it off with a bit of lavender oil to calm the scalp and add a soothing vibe.
Our new shakers are built to be used over and over again! Easy to open, refill, and clean. Alongside our aluminum shakers, we offer 2 fl oz and 4 fl oz refill packages which are home compostable and much lighter weight.

For economical and exact application, dip a makeup brush into the powder and tap off the excess. Part your hair at its oiliest sections and apply the powder using the brush.

I am not using this product as a dry shampoo but as the base for a mineral powder sunscreen without the dreaded white cast. Chemical sunscreens bother my skin, the mineral based creams and powder leave a cast. In comes cocoa and lavender to the rescue. I added three scoops of pharmaceutical grade zinc oxide to half the tin of dry shampoo and voila a powdered sunscreen that provides at least spf 15 and mattifies my face a little as well. I brushed some of the powder on the back of my hand for the photo and it's practically invisible!

Just ok for me! My hair gets pretty greasy unfortunately and this did take away most of the greasy look. It did leave my hair feeling textured, like I had used a texture hairspray. I will keep using and probably rebuy though because it does an adequate job and I don’t have to worry about the ingredients being bad for me (ahem other dry shampoos)

This has been the only dry shampoo I’ve ever used. One shaker of this lasts me forever. I have fine hair and on day two or three, I add this and it gives me at least another two days! I honestly LOVE the smell. yeah, it’s a bit messy, but I use a makeup brush to apply.

My sister recommended this dry shampoo to me. I have fine hair that gets oily very quickly, especially when I cut it short and worn straight. I can usually only go 1-2 days between washings with a short hair cut, but I’ve gone 4-5 days with it curled and 3-4 with it straight using this dry shampoo even with working out most days. It doesn’t leave it feeling gross and absorbs the oil really well while giving it a refresh and some volume. I also love that it’s not powdery white like most other companies “dark” dry shampoos. It smells nice as well and doesn’t cause any irritation to my scalp. I will say you smell like chocolate after a workout after several days of using it, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing! Phot was taken on day 3 of straight hair with multiple workouts!

Pros: I love the concept & it works well. I just sprinkle some directly onto my scalp/hair and then dab it in with a makeup brush.
Cons: my hair then consistently smells like chocolate until the next time I wash it. The powder also leaves a brown residue on my scalp (I have black hair & a fair scalp), which builds up when I use it several days in a row (I wash my hair every 3-4 days). It's especially gross when I scratch my head and then all that residue ends up under my nails. In the photo you can see how brown it makes my makeup brush where the white paw print is; that's essentially what my scalp would look like. The previous brand of dry shampoo I used was unscented and white and did not leave any kind of residue or color on my scalp. Unfortunately it came in plastic, so I do appreciate what Fat & the Moon is doing, but this particular product did not work for me.

I’ll admit, if you’re an avid aerosol dry shamp user, the shaker will take a little getting used to. I highly recommend using a brush to apply to roots because the powder will show up in brown sploches on your face and neck. Once you get used to it though you’ll love it! The formula is extremely effective and gives you that freshly washed voluminous look and feel. It also doesn’t leave residue all over your bathroom which was a constant pain point for me. I do wish it was slightly less scented but the lavender is nice compared to the typical baby powder perfume smell most big brands use.

Love that this is refillable! Product smells and works amazingly. Canister is small enough for travel and while I prefer to use a brush to apply, it’s not necessary with the shaker top.
I’ve gotten the cap stuck on the canister a couple times; applying a thin layer of balm/chapstick/etc does the trick.

Bought this dry shampoo for my husband to try. We both have brown hair and have been using bod powder as a dry shampoo, which left his hair with an ashy look. Now, he says he feels like he smells like hot chocolate, but I only smell the lavender, and he doesn’t look ashy! He doesn’t seem to have trouble washing it out and works just as nicely as the bod powder and the Acure dry shampoo he used previously. Also, at first I was hesitant to try dry shampoo with cocoa in it, because I thought it’d end up on our pillowcases, but I was wrong. We don’t have any trouble with that.

This is my first time using dry shampoo of any kind. As a teen, my mom discouraged me from using standard dry shampoo due to health concerns. Now as an adult, I couldn’t bring myself to use toxic chemicals either. I found this product and decided to try it somewhat reluctantly. Though I suspect it may not work for all hair colors, it blends perfectly with mine. And it WORKS! One of my goals this year is to learn how to take care of my long hair. Part of that, is washing less. This dry shampoo has extended my time between washes significantly. I hate the feeling and look of grease and my hair tends to start turning 48hrs after washing. I washed my hair every other day for a long time, but I’m now stretching it 4-6 days between washes. It does build up a little on my scalp, but not in an uncomfortable or visible way. And it smells like chocolate when you rinse it out. Between the shaker feature and a makeup brush, I’ve figured out how to apply it pretty effectively. I will say, the only thing I do no like is the bottle. I shake a bit of the powder into the cap and use the brush to dab that it into my hair from there. The actual shaker shakes too much out at a time for my liking and it doesn’t appear to come out. I also noticed that when I traveled with it, it turned upside down in my bag and a lot of powder went into the cap that I couldn’t really get back into the bottle through the shaker. I had to waste a bit, I wish I could choose to remove the shaker feature. It also makes a mess, no matter how you apply it. My hair is long and very thick- it take a lot of shampoo. The floor/sink is always dusted in brown after I’ve applied the shampoo nearby. It also dusts my clothes, but shakes/wipes off easily. It smells amazing, I can pronounce all of the ingredients, and it works. The benefits definitely outweigh the challenges.

What makes a good dry shampoo? Absorbs oil— yes. Adds body— def. Most dry shampoos check these boxes and offer bodacious hair on ‘no shower’ days.
Yet upon inspection of many a’ dry shampoos' out there, even the products deeming themselves ‘natural,’ harbor some questionable and down right chemy ingredients.
Any powder you are applying that close to your grill should damn well be edible. A word to the mothers: this potion will not only make it look like you’ve showered, you also don’t have to sweat for a second any toxic ingredients from your hair care showering down on your babe. As it should be, right? My only warning is that early childhood exposure to this Cocoa and Lavender Dry Shampoo might create a raging chocolate snob of the highest order.

FAQ
Is this safe to use with colored hair? I have purple hair and am needing a dry shampoo that’s color treated safe.
The Lavender and Cocoa Dry Shampoo will work for all hair colors and will be totally fine for your purple hair! We recommend applying it sparingly with a makeup brush to your roots and then combing it through. You can also add a sample to your cart when placing an order through our website if you wanted to test it out first before purchasing.
Is this packaging now plastic free?
Yes! Our Lavender and Cocoa Dry Shampoo aluminum shakers are now recyclable and 100% plastic free, and our refill pouches are home-compostable.

I am not using this product as a dry shampoo but as the base for a mineral powder sunscreen without the dreaded white cast. Chemical sunscreens bother my skin, the mineral based creams and powder leave a cast. In comes cocoa and lavender to the rescue. I added three scoops of pharmaceutical grade zinc oxide to half the tin of dry shampoo and voila a powdered sunscreen that provides at least spf 15 and mattifies my face a little as well. I brushed some of the powder on the back of my hand for the photo and it's practically invisible!

This has been the only dry shampoo I’ve ever used. One shaker of this lasts me forever. I have fine hair and on day two or three, I add this and it gives me at least another two days! I honestly LOVE the smell. yeah, it’s a bit messy, but I use a makeup brush to apply.

My sister recommended this dry shampoo to me. I have fine hair that gets oily very quickly, especially when I cut it short and worn straight. I can usually only go 1-2 days between washings with a short hair cut, but I’ve gone 4-5 days with it curled and 3-4 with it straight using this dry shampoo even with working out most days. It doesn’t leave it feeling gross and absorbs the oil really well while giving it a refresh and some volume. I also love that it’s not powdery white like most other companies “dark” dry shampoos. It smells nice as well and doesn’t cause any irritation to my scalp. I will say you smell like chocolate after a workout after several days of using it, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing! Phot was taken on day 3 of straight hair with multiple workouts!

Cons: my hair then consistently smells like chocolate until the next time I wash it. The powder also leaves a brown residue on my scalp (I have black hair & a fair scalp), which builds up when I use it several days in a row (I wash my hair every 3-4 days). It's especially gross when I scratch my head and then all that residue ends up under my nails. In the photo you can see how brown it makes my makeup brush where the white paw print is; that's essentially what my scalp would look like. The previous brand of dry shampoo I used was unscented and white and did not leave any kind of residue or color on my scalp. I’ll admit, if you’re an avid aerosol dry shamp user, the shaker will take a little getting used to. I highly recommend using a brush to apply to roots because the powder will show up in brown sploches on your face and neck. Once you get used to it though you’ll love it! The formula is extremely effective and gives you that freshly washed voluminous look and feel. It also doesn’t leave residue all over your bathroom which was a constant pain point for me. I do wish it was slightly less scented but the lavender is nice compared to the typical baby powder perfume smell most big brands use.

Love that this is refillable! Product smells and works amazingly. Canister is small enough for travel and while I prefer to use a brush to apply, it’s not necessary with the shaker top.

Bought this dry shampoo for my husband to try. We both have brown hair and have been using bod powder as a dry shampoo, which left his hair with an ashy look. Now, he says he feels like he smells like hot chocolate, but I only smell the lavender, and he doesn’t look ashy! He doesn’t seem to have trouble washing it out and works just as nicely as the bod powder and the Acure dry shampoo he used previously. This is my first time using dry shampoo of any kind. As a teen, my mom discouraged me from using standard dry shampoo due to health concerns. Now as an adult, I couldn’t bring myself to use toxic chemicals either. I found this product and decided to try it somewhat reluctantly. Though I suspect it may not work for all hair colors, it blends perfectly with mine. And it WORKS! One of my goals this year is to learn how to take care of my long hair. Part of that, is washing less. This dry shampoo has extended my time between washes significantly. I hate the feeling and look of grease and my hair tends to start turning 48hrs after washing. I washed my hair every other day for a long time, but I’m now stretching it 4-6 days between washes. It does build up a little on my scalp, but not in an uncomfortable or visible way. And it smells like chocolate when you rinse it out. Between the shaker feature and a makeup brush, I’ve figured out how to apply it pretty effectively. I will say, the only thing I do no like is the bottle. I shake a bit of the powder into the cap and use the brush to dab that it into my hair from there. The actual shaker shakes too much out at a time for my liking and it doesn’t appear to come out. I also noticed that when I traveled with it, it turned upside down in my bag and a lot of powder went into the cap that I couldn’t really get back into the bottle through the shaker. I had to waste a bit, I wish I could choose to remove the shaker feature. It also makes a mess, no matter how you apply it. My hair is long and very thick- it take a lot of shampoo. The floor/sink is always dusted in brown after I’ve applied the shampoo nearby. It also dusts my clothes, but shakes/wipes off easily. It smells amazing, I can pronounce all of the ingredients, and it works. The benefits definitely outweigh the challenges.

What makes a good dry shampoo? Absorbs oil— yes. Adds body— def. Most dry shampoos check these boxes and offer bodacious hair on ‘no shower’ days.
Yet upon inspection of many a’ dry shampoos' out there, even the products deeming themselves ‘natural,’ harbor some questionable and down right chemy ingredients.
Any powder you are applying that close to your grill should damn well be edible. A word to the mothers: this potion will not only make it look like you’ve showered, you also don’t have to sweat for a second any toxic ingredients from your hair care showering down on your babe. As it should be, right? My only warning is that early childhood exposure to this Cocoa and Lavender Dry Shampoo might create a raging chocolate snob of the highest order.
