Apoptosis: Herbal Support for Healthy Cell Renewal and Detoxification

Apoptosis is your cells’ way of knowing when it’s time to peace out. In the biological processes of repair, growth and renewal, apoptosis is the inner knowing of the cell to die to make way for the next crop of cellular life.

When a cell doesn’t get the memo that it’s gone off, and instead continues to proliferate, even when it is not in coordination with its fellow cells, we call it cancer.

These zombie-like cells become nutrient sucking monsters, tumors singularly focused on growing and accumulating to the ultimate detriment of its host.

Sounds familiar…

So why doesn’t the cell listen to, or hear, the message?

A whole lotta noise.

Of course, genetics play a role in predisposing our bodies for certain strengths and weaknesses, but when we enter the world and are inundated with disruptive chemicals and states of being, without adequate nutrients or rest, our homeostasis gets overwhelmed.

Considering all of this, it is a miracle we are able to keep on.We can consider the medicinal phytochemistry in plants as guiding voices, helping our cells to cut through the noise, helping them remember their purpose, their optimal and harmonious state of being- which is also a recognition of their place in a much larger organism.

Herbal medicine helps us remember we are a part of something bigger, literally, on the cellular level. This is how ‘antioxidants’ work- they don’t just prevent the cell from oxidizing (think apple flesh turning brown), they promote the process of cellular awareness, recognizing the need to die to make way for the next phase of cells and support the health of the fresh layer of tissue.

What makes herbal medicine, and herbal skin care SO COOL is that it aligns with the wisdom of your own bod.Our skin is constantly renewing itself, with fresh new cells forming at the bottom layer and gradually making their way up to the surface. Once they’ve done their job—protecting you from the elements, holding in moisture, and keeping your skin looking plump and healthy—they get the memo to self-destruct and make way for the new.So, the next time you reach for a botanical-packed Face Oil or herbal-infused Earth Polish, know that you’re not just cleansing and moisturizing—you’re giving your skin the tools it needs to follow its natural cycle of renewal.

A SPRING REFRESH FOR YOUR SKIN

‘Fragrance usually isn't a single ingredient. It's an umbrella term that can represent a blend of many aromatic compounds. Many toxic, petroleum-derived ingredients get to lie in the shadows of ‘fragrance’, hiding under the guise of “proprietary blends”.
